Hi all,
we just bought a 2012 Outback and purchased(without negotiating) an extended warranty Gold Package for $1230(7 years/70K miles). is this a fair price ? There is $100 deductable with it... i did not know that I could have negotiated this deal at purchase. i am thinking of cancelling but would like recommendations on where in california I would purchase this warranty and what would be the best price. Thank you in advance! |

There is a huge thread on this already and there should be more if you search. For a few dollars more you can get the 7yr/100k/$0ded. What you paid is not particularly great. Check this first. Discounted Factory Extended Warranty

I think having a 100K warranty is much better than a 70K. I bought my 2012 Outback Limited 2.5i two weeks ago, and got a 100K 7-year, zero deductible for $1450. That was in Ohio, and I don't know what that compares to in California.

I don't so much care about extended warranties that cover the first hundred K miles.....I'm still looking for one that kicks in later and covers the second hundred thousand. People are generally not amused when I ask about this.....
![]() NB: We've owned around 14 cars over 40 years. An extended warranty costing $1000 would not have paid off on any (ANY) of those cars.

AutomakerWarranty.com/Subaru
This company is simply the web hosting and marketing engine for Napleton Subaru of Schaumburg, IL. When you buy a Subaru Gold Plus* warranty from this site, you are buying directly from Napleton's Schaumburg Subaru, not from a 3rd party. AutomakerWarranty.com, LLC is simply the marketing and web hosting arm of Napleton's Schaumburg Subaru dealership. |

However my two Toyota's have both had several thousand bucks put into them for fairly major failures which case a warranty might have been nice to have. There are plenty of after market insurance policies for older cars they all come with a price but in some cases if you own say a VW - Audi etc you might end up on the positive side of that deal. LOL |

Tell the dealer to cancel it and tell them you can get the same for $1400ish elsewhere with the $0 deductible. If they want to sell it to you for that price, take it. If not check out G-omaha in the extended warranty thread. Win--Win.
