We in this country owe a huge debt to our armed forces personnel, both living and dead, that can never be paid. All I can do as a single citizen of the United States is to say thank you, and tell you that I will impress upon my son the knowledge of your sacrifices so that he, in turn, might do the same with his children. God bless you all.

...and we have plenty to be thankful for!

I thank every military veteran I encounter every day. I've normally said 'thank you for your service', but now in some cases I've learned to add 'welcome home' - specifically to Vietnam Veterans, because unlike many other conflicts, they very often were not received in a very welcoming way when they came back. Picked that up from a coworker who is himself a veteran.

So, I'm surprised and grateful to see how vets are treated today because a number of them have been to **** and back both physically and mentally. |

I remember reading a quote a while ago, might even be a famous one, so apologies if I butcher it. It went something like,
"....at some point in their life every service man, woman and veteran wrote a check to the United States of America for service up to and including their life to defend it....." Whenever I see a person in uniform it comes to mind. The perspective is very sobering. It goes to the very core of our country--Freedom-- and the price we pay to keep it. To all those in the service, veterans and especially those who gave their life for our country. Thank You

It's never too late to say Thank-you. I'm not a Veteran; however, my Uncle and Step Father are Vietnam Vets. My Grandfather was a SeaBee in WWII and my Father was in the Korean War. I think most Veterans genuinely appreciate a Thank-you, any time of the year....... especially from strangers.
Thanks Again! |
