You put a brick on the gas pedal, in State like Kansas, driving Westbound, before you hit Colorado State line... straight level road, no curves, no hills... that is how... LOL... this is a joke Looby!

Hmmm...No one told me when I bought it not to use the cruise..I used it on my drive home from the dealer...However, with the hills it never sat at the same rpm for more than a couple minutes so Im sure it will be fine. I will follow the recommendation from now on just to be on the safe side.
That being said, on the 2.5i engine, is anyone changing the filter before the first oil change at 3000 miles? Probably overkill, but I was thinking about doing it at 1000 miles since most of the particulates should have been caught in it by then. It is in such an easy place to change it, it just makes me want to do it....lol Thoughts? |

this is what SOA emailed me when I asked them about it specifically - in 2003
In general - it just seems to be a "go easy on the car" routine. "The suggested break-in period is for the first 1000 miles. The recommendations include: - not racing the engine - driving at moderate speeds while accelerating and braking smoothly. - not driving at one constant engine or vehicle speed for a long time, either fast or slow - avoiding starting suddenly and rapid acceleration, except in an emergency - avoiding hard braking, except in an emergency Following these recommendations will add to the performance and long life of your vehicle. It enables all of the cars fluids and mechanisms to slowly get into an operation mode." |
