The increased tire pressure certainly did help handling... I went with 36psi on all corners. The ride certainly firmed up and i noticed the bumps a bit more... Not nearly as squishy in the corners as when the psi was at 29 on all corners (the setting from the dealer). Once I get the whiteline swaybar on i'll probably drop to about 34psi to add more "comfort" to the ride.
I'll reset the trip odometer and see what I get for mpg.

Drove our 08 LTD to Montreal and back -- and tootled around while in Canada.
On highway, including very hilly in PA, with me, spouse, child and about 200 pounds of stuff we got 27-28. Speeds 75-80. Slowing down to 60 or so yielded nearly 30. At first oil change I'll go synthetic, which should also help. Liking this car -- nice stable mate to our a4 3.0 avant and Rx8 |

Back from the north...
Got 26.7mpg average cruising at around 75 to 85mph most of the trip then slowly crusing the park loop at Acadia NP for a while. Trip home averaged the same!

2799 miles round trip Northern Calif. to Yellowstone Park, WY. 07 OB 2.5 A/T. Driven mostly 65-70 mph (50% of time with A/C on). Low mileage 27.85 mpg; high mileage 31.28 (45 mph speed limit inside Yellowstone), 30.19 mpg Winnemucca, NV to Idaho Falls, ID (speed 70-75 mph with no A/C). Computation based on actual mileage divided by every tank filled.
The car's trip computer tends to read on the higher side, and I've seen 33.5 mpg on the dashboard readout. Prior to the trip I had an oil change at 2598 miles. |

Stick shift or automatic? How much weight were you hauling? And finally, is the 30 mpg the computer readout on the dash or mpg derived from dividing the actual miles driven by each tank fillup (in gallons). |

30 MPG by my calculations down and back, on the way there it was just me (140lbs) in the car and a bag with my stuff which wieghed no more then 20 lbs. Way back a table was added, maybe 50-100 lbs? And its a 2002 Outback Sedan.

we did a trip this weekend and I averaged 30.3mpg according the the car-puter. I attributed it to the fresh wax job I had done Saturday morning!
