Took our 08 2.5i down to Rhode Island this weekend. Was a bit disappointed by the 23mpg....

right now it has 948 miles on it.
Need to call for my "FREE" 1000 mile checkup! haha! 10k seems like a long time for it to break in.

My 2008 2.5i 5MT has been getting between 28 and 29 (per the computer) on the 250 mile round trip to my country place. Its half freeway and half country highway. I haven't been using cruise but do try to hold it to 70 MPH or less. Its usually me, my wife, our dog, and probably 100 pounds of stuff.
I think the Subaru is pretty sensitive to driving style. I used to have a Jeep Grand Cherokee v8, and no matter how you drove it or what the load was, it always got 14.5. |

Is there a way to reset the MPG average on teh little computer? Mine is saying 23.4 or there abouts. It's creeping upward... ever so slowly.
I don't use the cruise control either but I try to keep it in the 75-85mph range and I bumped up the tire pressure a bit to get rid of some of the floaty feeling on the highway.

The average fuel economy resets every time you reset your trip odometer to zero. Since you have an "A" and a "B" setting on your trip odometer, you also have an "A" and "B" average fuel economy. I usually reset one of them every time I buy gas.
75 to 85 MPH is probably why you only get 23 MPG on the highway. The EPA tests are at a much lower speed. Increasing the tire pressure should help fuel mileage. Did it help the handling? |

To All:
My best result were obtained @ 70 MPH & I averaged 28ish. If you slow down your mileage should increase dramatically! Nevertheless, I run full synthetic fluids thruout the car. I do not know if it helps since I changed to synthetic @ 3K. Regards, ~Button
