Prior to the VDC was a 99 OBW
Before that, 97 Legacy
Before that, 94 Legacy
Before that, 92 RS coupe
Before that, 87 RX

I've had other cars, The 96 Cavalier is still around (lost 3rd and 4th on the way to work this morning; crap with just 1, 2 and 5), 76 Camaro, 76 Mercury Capri (a pain getting parts for during the rebuild), 87 Grand National, 69 T-Bird, 67 Galaxy 500, 72 Gran Torino, 82 Mustang V6, 92 Cutlass, 77 Cutlass, 87 Cutlass, 77 Datsun B210 hatchback, 90 210 sedan, 98 Concourse (Lasted 500 miles from 0 before and electrical fire got it; made Dodge take it back-POS), 68 Cadi Fleetwood, 71 Chevy C10 (built into a beasty fast machine), 71 Chevelle and 65 Chevy II (This one was really fun with a 327).

I think the Runt and I are going to start on a 78 El Camino here in the next few months. He picked it up cheap today. Its just a rolling chassis.

I'll be turning in my 2010 Ford Taurus that did not see much use after my accident (while working) and has low miles, nice car, horrible mileage. This i the first car I have bought in over 20 years ('13 outback)

The plan what I bought this 2005 Outback XT was to sell my 2004 Astro Cargo van.

I been holding on to both, but I should probably sell the van this Spring.

Had no idea they still sold Astros 10 years ago... Huh! Always thought of it as a very 80s car.

1985-2005. They're actually quite desirable.

Last of the truck-based mini-vans.

Except they aren't really truck based. They don't have a separate frame, just really big boxed sections on the bottom of the unibody to make them rigid enough and accept the running gear they largely shared with the S10 pickups, which DO have a real frame.

My family owned no less than 4 Astros and Safaris, 3 of them because of my father's small business. Made good vehicles for light towing and hauling, but you could have decent comfort and amenities compared to a full sized van. Plenty of issues over time though.

2002 WRX wagon. Bought it new. Made it to 200,000 miles. It held together very well but things were starting to go. 7 New England winters will do that to a car. It was a blast in the snow. Things were going bad left and right. finally burned valve. I averaged 54 miles a day everyday for 10 years. Crazy. Now I drive 35 miles one way to work.

I can't confirm that they are structurally different than the S10 but they are RWD. Our 2000 Safari AWD has been a trooper. Our 2009 Outback replaced a 1985 Crown Vic. The Safari does oh so much more. Nothing Subaru has now or in the pipeline comes close. My best hope is Fiat; and that's pretty desperate!

Citroën C5 with hydropneumatic suspension first switched to Skoda Superb Tdi DSG, 47 mpg.
SKODA AUTO Deutschland GmbH - Der SKODA Superb Combi - Farben - 360°

Skoda will be switched to Outback 2013 boxer diesel cvt this Spring. Also claims 47 mpg but I guess 38 mpg will be closer to reality.

My wife's current '12 Citroen C4 BMP rides 71 mpg. Robotic transmission, 5-seater, 480-litre trunk. Nice and easy ride. French elegance.
Constructeur automobile français Citroën : Créative Technologie

Color is right too, though looks better in nature.

Why is mpg so important? Today's fuel price: 1,52 € or 2,05 $ / litre (0,264 gal) = 7,77 $ / gal.
That was diesel, petrol would cost more per unit and be consumed more.

And oh yes, the Outback will cost 45.000 € = 61.000 $
"Kokonaishinta" is the total price incl. car tax, vat
