Agreed! I love that show. Pretty hilarious most of the time, and it's actually a good source of legitimate "in-the-driver's seat" information and feedback.

Oh, and yes, he's definitely drifting it. He seems like a really good driver.

150lb per foot at just 2800 rpm 2600lbs - 200hp direct injection 2L engine. Subaru was working on direct injection could this be our first sneak peek at what Subaru engineers can do with DI? 200hp 6500 rpm with 150lbs per foot at 2800 rpm is starting to sound really interesting.

Makes me wonder what exactly they might have figured out with the 2.5L tuned for an outback - oh this could be very very good in the near future! Though they will need to sport up the OB piggy handling for sure.

Stock Miata is 2500lbs 167hp redline at 7200

So the question is when do we get to see a video of the BRZ sharing the track with the Miata? That would fun to see.

Yeah, the torque #'s down low look great! Hopefully it remains fairly steady through the RPM range. The HP/ weight ratio seems targeted to beat Mazda.
FWIW, the BRZ is using a Toyota DFI. Although, in a neat manner much like modern sport bikes. There are 8 injectors, 4 are traditional "port" which squirt into the manifold. The other 4 are HPDI (high pressure direct injection).

Thumbs up

My understanding of this car is that it's all about the handling. There's plenty of options for high power sports cars with huge grippy low profile tyres etc, but not many for a fine handling economical RWD at this price point, apart from MX5 (Miata) or S2000. Early reports from road testers suggest that the electric power steering is the best yet for feel and feedback, better than the new Porker 911 (991 series). 16 inch wheels as standard, communicative steering, good throttle response and comparatively skinny rubber should = fun fun fun. I'm really interested in this car

Here you go!
You can thank me with a candy Red BRZ under the Xmas tree.
First drive: Subaru BRZ coupe - BBC Top Gear

Sounds like they really like it. And they have never really been all that big on subaru to start with so thats saying quite a bit.

The non turbo - standard AT or MT will probably pay big when it comes to reliability and long term ownership. Which would be a very nice thing these days with how expensive cars are.
