According to Auto Motor und Sport the launch is official. Citroen has always been avant-garde in their designs and the old 1950's DS cars had aluminum hoods and fiberglass roofs, headlights that moved with the steering wheel (way before Japan "invented" this) hydro-pneumatic suspension that even Mercedes paid Citroen for to use in their 450 SEL 6.9.
My dad had a few citroens DS, GS and CX and they used to be rust buckets like most 60' and 70's cars, but OMG do they ride nice. It is either love or hate with this new DS9 but I have lust issues. The car is in no way competition for Subaru, although it has frameless door windows...Citroen DS9-Studie auf der Auto China 2012: Das neue Flaggschiff - AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT

seems to be just another concept car at present. If I understand the translated German page, it 'might' be marketed late in 2013.

OK... it was late and I was too lazy to type last night.... Here's my logic....
This car is in early Protoype.... May evolve a bit.... Knowing AMerican Hates Wagon, ANy marketing guys with some brains.(Of course, with the French company....that another story..lol) will know they need to tweak it a bit to sell to Wagon-phobia AMericans! Guess what top the list of tweak! (just look at What SUbaru did and WOrked Really well) from Legacy wagon to Outback back in crocodile dundee days! Add that to fact that CItreon-Peugeot DOminated the WRC circuit the last decade.... Making this car outdoor-ish, (semi) Off road, Even Rally capable....is not that far reaching.... Now, a jacked up wagon, 295hp, 166 mph, Non turbo, uses zero fossil fuel, (maybe as off road capable as OB), as big a cargo space, AWD(maybe), Zero emission targeting potential customer base that are somewhat Green, outdoor oriented!!!! Are you sweating now, Subaru? Again, all this is still too early, But Subaru, If you lose this group of customers.... You're done! |

Anybody that would consider one of those clearly has no experience with French cars. Subaru may find different ways to do things, but the French usually just find the worst way to do anything automotive.

That would be borderline-useless around where I am. WAY too close to the ground. Forget about driving on a whole lot of the roads around here. Kind of defeats the purpose of AWD if you ask me...

Very cool car, but it is not in the same class as the Outback. I don't think Citroen will ever be sold in the US
