Default Outback STi

...6 months, 1.5x my original budget, my wife threatening all sorts of physical pain... pretty average project car.

[IMG][/IMG]

Ok the important stuff. Built ej257 w/forged pistons. Everything brand new except for the headers, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ecu, which came from a 02 WRX. TMIC and vf39 sourced used from nasioc. Stock STi exhaust (FAIL for stg. 2 tune btw...), 07 WRX transmission.

Haven't done a dyno tune, but the boost is maxed out. Probably puts down around 290 HP at the wheels.

I love the orginal OB logo. Hard to find as decals anymore.

Enkei EV5s in Dunlop SP Sport Signatures. 225/50/17 I had these tires on my WRX and loved them, so I had to get a new set for summer on the OB. The EV5s are not nearly as nice as my RPF1s, but I'll live. They wouldn't fit anyway.

Of course, KYB GR2s and Kings.

Oregon peeps know what's up.

Next up? Probably lots of interior stuff to kinda mimic the STi interior. Needs to be all custom, as none of the STi stuff will fit the Gen1 Leggy body. New turboback exhaust. BRAKES. For now, I'm pretty happy to be up and running. Tomorrow I'm taking it on some forest service roads for the first time. Time to get sideways!

Thanks to John at Outback Auto in Auburn, WA. Did the swap and put up with my pushy ass. Bring your subies there! Happy trails kids... Jefe

Nice build! You should take it to the track and see what it will run. I bet it pulls hard.

Brakes are way up the list. I've already picked up a set of 03 WRX brakes, which will get me through until I can upgrade to 4-pots. Just need to install em.

Thanks! Jefe

Thanks! I have no plans to track it. 'My' track is the 1000+ miles of forest service roads in the pacific northwest.

I just did my first off road today, and oh lordy. 60+ miles an hour sideways around corners. Nothin but smiles from hear on out.

Awesome. Make some videos of the car in the dirt sometime. Definitely worth posting up on Youtube.

Its nice to see a wagon with the swap, you dont come across that often. Im looking at doing the same thing if i can get the funding. Although im looking at sapping the entire dash, hvac, everything.

Can the dash be swapped? My mechanic who built my car said that the STi dash would only fit Imprezas; no Legacy fit without a lot of custom fab.

That would be awesome tho, as you could then have the STi cluster, steering column, etc.

Do it! Prove it can be done!
