Amazing shots! What kind of camera do you use?

Thanks, cglock25. These were taken with a Canon digital SLR using a 75-300mm lens, mostly dialed up to 300.

Impressive shots, and it's also impressive that you know exactly what these things are called

Out of interest, did you do any post processing on the shots eg. levels?

No post-processing at all. Even if I were inclined, I don't really know how!

I'm a fairly competent birder, but I'm just starting to learn some of the common dragonflies, which is one reason I was taking the pictures. A good field guide is a must; I use Dragonflies through Binoculars by Sidney Dunkle.

Your competence with a camera is clear - highly awesome photos

If you're interested, the Google Picasa graphics program is a good, free way to do things like auto-levels which can help with providiing the "pop" in photos where the contrast is low, such as your sixth one above.

Thanks for sharing
