Krita (part of an open source office): http://www.koffice.org/krita/

Pixia: http://park18.wakwak.com/~pixia/

CinePaint: http://cinepaint.movieeditor.com/ <-- interesting

MtPaint: http://www.btinternet.com/~mark.tyle...int/index.html

Lastly, you know you want:

TuxPaint: http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/tuxpaint/
rather than try to figure out which of these is the best, i'll just ask, which one is the best ?

i'm sure that's a subjective question so whick one does more useful stuff ? which one is the easiest to use for editing, resiziing, making color into black and white etc.

thanks, i don't want super complicated, something to play with photos.

FREE! (...w/the purchase of a Mac, that is...)

( I'd be kicked out of the super-duper-mac-user club if I didn't say that... )

Or you could try Google's Picasa - http://picasa.google.com/

It's free, it's an excellent photo library organizer, and it has enough basic editing tools to get you by. Try it for a few days and see if it has enough for you. It's a Google product, so you know it'll be user-friendly...worst case scenario, you don't like it and you try something else.

Well now I have read this thread.

It's very informative. My camera does the whole 300dpi so I have really large photo files So that bit about changing the pixels to 72 and the width to 1000 helped out a lot! thanks!

I prefer to use adobe products as well. Another fun photo product is: collage maker 2.05 I just picked that up the other day, and it's pretty fun.
