I got a replacement brake light bar for my 2000 Outback Limited wagon from a junkyard. They put an ID number on it with some sort of paint or similar. I had to attack it with a toothbrush to get it off, and that's scratched that area of the bar.
Is there some sort of polish I can use to get rid of the scratches? I suspect I'll need to polish the whole thing, and that's all right. Will the polishing kits you see for headlight lenses do the trick? |

IMO, start with something VERY VERY fine. Maguires Scratch-X or similar. If the scratches are not that deep, you can use a lapping compound.
Good luck!
