Default Wheel Polish-Wax?

I've got a 2005 OBW 2.5i with the standard aluminum wheels that look to be either painted or powder coated. What is the best thing that those on the board have found to both polish and protect these type of wheels? I'm looking for suggestions for either polishes or waxes (or maybe combination products) that help keep these wheels easy to clean the dirt & dust off them.

Suggestions or prior experience with specific products is appreciated!

Thanks!

I've used many things over the years on painted/cleared or powdercoated wheels .. mostly because once I find something that works well ... they discontinue it.

Mothers cleaner wax generally works well, so does Zymol [sp?]

If they are clean, I've used Nu-Finish with good results.

So far I've never had an issue with heat effecting the wax with anything I've used.

Not applicable but, the best raw aluminum polish I've found is Mothers Billet polish ... pricey but takes half the effort for twice the shine.

I use either Zaino AIO or Z-2 on the aluminum wheels, depending on how clean they are after washing. In between washings, I use Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer (the cheap stuff) with paper toweling to clean off loose brake dust, works like a charm. Better than staining microfibers with black brake dust residue.

I save the more expensive Zaino Z-6 and Z-8 for the painted finishes. This process works extremely well for me.

I second the Zaino, my new Limited is sitting in the garage with her third coat of Zaino drying on both the paint and the wheels.

Wheels stay easy to clean if I keep them poished I have found.

Some motorcycle alum. wheels get dirty fast and pit from the brake dust. Apply a "clear coat", and done; all dirt just rinses off. Good thing is if any nicks or damage can be touched up easy. Apply and dry, it levels out and fills gap. Applies like water, very thin coat, so balance is effected min. www.renewmetal.com and product is everbrite. Have not used it on auto yet, but works well on bike for three years so far with no touch ups yet.

Spray wax does a very nice job giving a nice shine.....and there's nothing to it. Just make sure you start with a clean wheel to get the very best results.
