Yep they are worth it - the only issue is that they are several inches too short for the Gen 3 OB. I asked them about making taller ones, but never heard back about it. If they do offer taller ones, I'll swap mine over to my wife's Acura TL and put the taller set on my Roo.

Yes they are. Especially in the snow. No build up like on the OEM plastic pieces. Easy to install and worth the cost. Like the others, I wish they were a little longer but better than stock.

Because they stick out, do they add more road noise?

No, I don't think there is more road noise. You can adjust them a little bit so they aren't out as far as they could be. I put mine as far out as I could. Maybe that helps protect the paint? But I wouldn't go back to the stock ones. At least on my '06. In the winter the stock plastic pieces would get packed with snow and that would cause the tires to rub when I turned. The packed snow was so tough to get off. So with these, they are flexible. Just a little tap with my foot and the snow/ice falls off. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. I have had them on for 3 years. No problems.

As a Forester owner with a set of RA flaps, for me they are well worth the cost of 'admission'. Way better than the factory 'scoop' flaps that came with my Subie.
