Since your Outback is a Legacy based one, and not an Outback Sport which is Impreza based, that'd be a no. At least certainly not bolt in. (By the time you got done cutting it up and making it fit, you might as well have bought ones that actually fit.)

Check this out. Headers for a 2000 Subaru outback?
The one he told me to get is for an Impreza. He has a 2000 legacy outback and didn't say anything about it not fitting right. Maybe the 2000 is different but I doubt it.

I appreciate the info you provided in both threads but have you ever tried installing one? If so what were the main issues? You say to buy one that actually fits but no info about where we can get one. In all my searching on the internet I have not found one that is made exactly for our cars. I'm beginning to think they don't exist. Please let us know any info you might have on this.
Thanks

That one is an unequal length UEL. It's going to give you that boxer engine growl. I was going to buy one and try it out myself but my funds are low. If you don't want to chance it then you could wait until I buy one and test fit it. I would be glad to start a thread, take pics, show any issues, and how to fix them. It will be a month or 2 before I can purchase one though.

From what I know, it sounds like it gives little to no power increase where an equal length would give you a 5-10 HP increase <(don't quote me on that). I haven't heard anyone say an UEL header actually makes you lose power. You might gain a few HP if you do other exhaust work as well. Not just the header. In the meantime why don't you remove the heat shield from your exhaust if it's driving you crazy?
