Default Turbo Engine Swap Question

Would it be hard to swap a turbo engine from a Subaru Baja into my 04 Legacy Outback? I found one for free with the harness. I will need a computer right? Can I just use the Baja computer? My buddy is swapping a stock non turbo engine in his so I could possibly get the computer from him as well. The engine is locked up but I don't mind rebuilding it if it was free. Are they DOHC or single? Pros and cons?

I would check NASIOC, as some of their stickies are encyclopedia-like.

Thanks for the tip. I am not on any other Subaru forum so I will check it out. I can't pass up a free engine. If it won't work ill make an off road buggy to put it in or something like a scary fast go kart. Haha! I would rather put it in my outback though.

As the Baja is the same platform as your Gen. 2, it should basically bolt right in. The computer is another matter, but shouldn't be too much to deal with once you get the correct one.

Free turbo engine, huh? You are lucky.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on going with a turbo for a few years but I can't pass it up. It's not completely free. I have to replace a wheel bearing and do a brake job on his wifes car. I would have done that for him anyway so its like a free engine to me. All its going to cost me is some labor and time.

Subaru's are essentially like lego.. You can pretty much stuff any year engine, under any year car.

It might be worth talking to someone like I-wire Iwire

These guys are very knowledgeable in the wiring of these cars.

Yeah! Thanks! My phone won't let me click the search bar for some reason. I can't wait for an app for the Android. It would be nice.
