So I would like to put on the side window deflectors I have now for my 13 OB.
I am confused by the instructions though. Specifically, I dont understand what the "run channel gasket" is and how it comes out from the trim. The photos seem to imply its the rubber gasket that runs on the bottom edge of the chrome trim - but that gasket is very thin and I have no idea how it comes out. But at the end of the instructions, it shows putting a gasket back in and shows a finger within it - as if its a very wide gasket - so I dont know if Im looking at the right gasket. What needs to come out and how does it come out? Thanks! |

Did you buy weathertec or OEM
weathertec has a video you can watch, real easy (Nothing to take off) OEM goes over your chrome strips (Nothing to take off)

Send them back and order the weathertech. They go in the channel and are much more durable than most of the ones offered by the vehicle manufacturers.

You have to pull that down to put the clips in. Also, it prevents accidental contact of sticky side of deflector with the rubber window seal. It's easy just to pul it down and then with your fingers (or plastic spatula) put it back. WeatherTechs don't look that good (in my opinion) and they keep flying off (my personal experience) on my wife's Honda and on some of my previous applications. You made a right choice!

It's the upper/top rubber channel the window rests against when closed. If you open the front window about 1/2" it exposes the trim. If you feel closely at the bottom of that rubber piece(window open) you can catch the edge with your fingernail and separate it from the piece behind it and pull it down. They don't want you sticking anything to it.

unfortunately, i didn't take a pic of my install but you simply pull down on the rubber seal/gasket.
if you place the deflector up to the window and align it... look at where the clip touches the window frame. you will see where the metal and rubber trim piece touch. separate the rubber from the metal frame. i used a plastic tool used to work on trim pieces. if you use a small screwdriver wrap the end with tape. joel |

ok, I get it-
One small detail led to my idiocy - I wasnt considering the window being down. I was looking at the diagrams assuming the window was up. I literally was looking at that one picture as if it was showing a gasket hanging down IN FRONT of the window or BEHIND the window - not the window down. ![]() now it makes a lot more sense. Guess I should stick to my day job. ![]() thanks guys. |
