1997 Subaru Legacy Outback limited Reverse lights not working. At first if I giggled the manual shift lever in reverse the lights would come on - now (after a few weeks) giggling no longer helps. No reverse lights when shift into reverse (Its not bad bulbs). 2.5 engine, car not garaged for two years.
Any ideas on how to fix reverse lights , or is it a service station job? Thanks , Car |

don't have a book for your year but, the back up switch on 2000 + is located on the transaxle housing. the fact that jiggling the lever would make it work leads me to believe the switch is either; bad, dirty, loose, or the connection is just bad.
jack it up and get under there and look on the left [driver side], should be a neutral switch and a reverse switch both should have plugs [on the 2k+ the back up switch is forward of the neutral switch]. try unplugging and cleaning the connection and plugging it back it. if that doesn't work you probably need a new switch. |
