Are there cabin filters or pollen filters on a 1998 OBW? If not, when did Subaru start with these? Always thought that they were a great idea in cars.

Subaru Research Site- specs, prices, options, 2011, 2010, 2009.. Outback, Legacy, Forester, Impreza, Tribeca
You can find specific items on a break down of each model year. If I remember correctly, they did not have one from the factory, at least not on our 1996.

Should be. Subaru started factory installation in the 2005 MY. I believe some early 05s might not have the filter housing, but there was/is a kit available. 2006 and up, a definite yes, unless perhaps a particular dealer or dealers' group ordered a bunch without, but I very much doubt it -- at that point it wasn't an "option". The way the filter is held in place, and accessed for maintenance, changed one or two times from 05 to 09. This is reflected in the cabin filter change DIY threads in the DIY forum.
Also, in my 2007, there's a yellow sticker, about 2 inches in height, on the left side panel of the instrument panel, where it butts up against the door trim. It indicates the presence of the filter and its maintenance. |
