Default ABS Code 42

ABS light is on on my '99 OBW. Found the threads to pull the codes and got them. Looked the codes up... Two are easy to understand: 22 FR Sensor and 26 RR Sensor.

Other code is 42: "Source Voltage is Abnormal". Source voltage to control unit?

Thanks,
Wally

Probably works on a reference voltage and it's out of spec ... could be why the sensors are coding.

Not sure why it would be abnormal but, bad connection or ground issue would be my first guess.

The more I thought about it, the more that sounded like a temporary connection issue, weak battery, etc. I figured out how to clear the codes and now it just has the one for the FR sensor.

I checked resistance on the sensor and it is in specs. Took rotor off and - there is no tone ring! Well, that explains that. The rotors have obviously been replaced recently - someone obviously did some work and removed the tone ring and didn't put it back on. Broken I guess, and they didn't wanna buy one.

They have them on eBay for $25, but it shows just a toothed ring - no mounting "horns". Svc manual doesn't show that as a separate piece...not sure what the deal is there. Local dealer has one for $115, I think I'll go look at it and probably just buy the **** thing.

Thanks,
Wally

Nope - 95-99 are cast aluminum and bolt to back of hub. Let me see if I can figure this picture thing out...

OK, I uploaded it to gallery, but I can't figure out how to get a thumbnail here. Here is the link.
