I know that these car can have a tick to them sometimes but I don't think mine is normal. It ticks when it's good and hot ( I deliver food) I keep oil in it but can rarely get the dipstick to read anything. I just replaced the duty C myself so I kinda feel invested in this car.
If the motor was to let go what is the newest motor I could swap in with little to no modifications? I'm not looking for crazy power, but being stong and reliable would be nice. 1996 Outback 2.5 Auto. |

A loud valvetrain can be caused by low oil pressure. The oil pump seal can gradually fail, causing a loss of pressure, but not enough to trip the oil light.
Have you tried a thicker oil?
