My friend just bough a 94 Legacy Wagon 2.2auto with 204....overall the car is near perfect..no rust or anything...it's really really clean for a 16yr old subaru...however..it does have a heavy oil leak...it's pretty bad..the entire passenger head is soaked with oil..and the front timing cover is covered with oil...in some spots the oil has puddled ontop of the head....the oil is clean...there isn't any oil in the coolant...would all the oil be leaking from the head?

Oil on the front of the engine, like you're describing, is usually leaking from the camshaft seals, front crankshaft seal, and/or the oil pump. It's pretty easy to remove one or both of the outer timing belt covers and look inside ... if there's a lot of oil inside the cover, it's one or more of those three.
