I listened several times at different volumes, but couldn't make out an unusual ticking sound in the short video. Is there something there that I'm missing? Or could it be that the recorder didn't pick it up?

When I had the HG done by subaru driver side on the 2.5 they shimmed the valves and they were a tad noisy for a while like say 40K then they quieted down some. Car was fine HG was done by Subaru for the external leak issue at 64K and at 180K it was fine and ran great.
Exhaust leaks which I had one at 180K due to a seal at the CAT vs down pipe not sealing correctly are a whistle sound that get louder the faster the RPMs go. My guess is that you hear the tick of noisy valves. Which is easiest to hear with the hood up and the engine just idling. |
