Question K Seal?

Anyone use this for Head gasket-related issues? (leaking compression)

I just watched the YouTube videos plus it was recommended by a mechanic friend of mine for my 2003 Subaru Outback Limited Sedan with 107,000 miles.

As a last resort/stop-gap, such product might help for a while. It will have no impact on the oil passages through the gasket, so if the HG is going, it'll soon show external. If you add K seal or similar and then eventually have to get the HG done, flushing the K seal out afterwards is a real pain.

I just can't see how cooling system pressures can overcome combustion chamber pressures.

Now, for those leaks where coolant is actually making it out the exhaust - obviously there is a portion of the cycle that is allowing coolant to flow into the CC. But that is rarely the case for 'typical' soob HG failures where you get bubbling in the radiator/overflow tank.

I'm sure K-seal probably works fine for many external leaks - as would the re-branded Holts Rad Weld sold as Subaru Conditioner.

Autozone didn't have K-Seal so I went with Bar's Leaks Head Gasket Repair fluid and so far so good. I let the car sit 24 hours and then topped off the radiator with 50/50 Antifreeze. Drove it all day today and no overheating at all and the temperature gauge was holding steady right in the middle. Hopefully it will last because this $10 fix just saved me $1500 to fix the issue according to a local Subaru dealer.

LOL the old fix in a can trick all the mechanics I have talked with about that stuff say only use it if you don't plan on ever actually fixing the car given it mucks up more than just the leaky gasket.

Well, what's done is done.

I don't plan on owning this car the rest of my life. I still hear a slushing sound of the coolant every time I start the car so I know something isn't 100% right. It gets me to work and back and at this time in my life, that's all I can hope for.
