Default Another one repaired...

So I've been plagued with the head gasket issue.

I bit the bullet and had it worked on by a local mechanic who did the timing belt, water pump and thermostat all at once.

Cost me $1,268.05.

Not bad considering I had budgeted for a horrific $2,500.

I'm picking up the car after work and will drive it aroud. I hope everything is hunky dorey.

Sorry to hear that. Here's hoping the mechanic was good!

That's not a bad price. At least now you can relax for a while.

Picked up the car last night and the car runs smooth!

I popped open the cap to the coolant reservoir and didn't see any milky coolant. *phew*

The mechanic is good. I'd definitely recommend him to anybody in Southern Cali.

I am sure I can drive the car for another 100k. Hmm, time for road trips! w00t w00t!

You definitely should get a lot more miles out of her now.

Sounds like a good deal $$ wise.

At lunch I decided to fill up on gas and check the engine bay to double check the work that was done.

Lo and behold, I see oil leaking underneath the engine. I take a gander and what do I see? Oil FLOWING out of the engine block, right where the head and block meet. BAH!

I decided to check the oil dipstick and it's overfilled. I'm hoping that I didn't do any damage to the engine running it overfilled with oil. Crap!

I have to take it back to the mechanic and see what is UP! *sigh*

So it turns out that one of the mechanics that worked on the car PRIED open the passenger side valve cover and tore the gasket! What an idiot!

The owner of the shop wasn't pleased with what he found. He replaced the gasket and the car now runs just dandy.

Seems like I found myself a reputable shop.
