Default SOA reports Subaru sales figures for sept.

Record sales for Subaru in Sept.

By MAX SHOWALTERmshowalter@jconline.com • October 1, 2010

Figures released this morning by Subaru of America Inc. shows the company sold 21,432 vehicles last month. That represents a 47 percent increase over the 14,593 sold during September of last year.
The Outback model, built at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. plant in Lafayette, posted a 91 percent increase over last year — selling 8,154 units last month.

Sales of the SIA-built Legacy line rose by 8.6 percent during the same period, to 2,999 vehicles.
The Tribeca, also manufactured at SIA, showed a sales decrease of 58 percent, to 152 units.

Among Japanese-made Subarus:
• Sales of the Impreza rose by 55 percent, to 3,678 units.
• Sales of the Forester model rose 33 percent, to 6,449 units.

“September’s record results reflect that demand for Subaru products continues to outpace supply despite the uncertain economy,” said Timothy Colbeck, senior vice president of sales with Subaru of America.

“We have been increasing shipments to dealers, but they continue to sell everything we send them

Yeah, my dealership won't even order any more (even custom orders). They rot on the lot.

Sorry for not knowing much about the Tribeca, but is there something wrong with them or is the Outback just taking over.

I haven't driven one, but I haven't heard anything bad about them. They're just kind of bland, pretty heavy and quite expensive compared to comparable crossovers with 3 rows of seating.

The second row seat seems really tight to me (I do sit in all the showroom models when I'm in for warranty repairs ).

In other words, I can't see any reason why someone shouldn't buy a Tribeca, but I can't see many major reasons anyone should, either.

Default Sales

Also doesn't look like the Outback "shake" has effected sales.

Love my outback.

Had my 11 OB Limited parked next to a Tribeca last evening. They look suprisingly close in size. There was no roof rack on the Tribeca. Only thing I noted was the Tribeca had lights in the side mirrors. Wonder if Subaru may have planned to eliminate one of these models?

problem with Tribecca ....Gas guzzler compare to 3.6R OB.
Only advantage tribecca has..."tiny" 3rd row seat.
Unlike Forester and Outback, Tribeca doesn't come with motor trend SUv of the year badge to help boast sales.
