Judging by past model releases - and the Japan disaster. I'd say any time between late September and Mid December is when the new Impreza will show up.

Now be forewarned that the new impreza 5door may not be called the outback sport given Subaru has taken a little bit of a beating on getting too far away from the good handling aspect of the Legacy/wagon with the new Outback. It would not surprise me one bit if they make a move to distance the Impreza from the outback by focusing on on road performance and handling.

I would also not worry about a impreza without the outback name or sticker being any less capable than the old outback sport regarding snow etc given even my legacy GT on stock tires was very impressive in the snow and all the years of epic storms never got stuck. So do not be surprised if the Impreza 5door shows up with a different name AS it should!

thanks, impreza is cool too, as long as it has same features. she keeps stealing my outback cuz her car is a 5spd, thats the biggest reason i want something else. i hate shifting and i wont be able to forever. i have a disorder similar to MS and shes getting tired of shifting as well. a CVT is fucking awesome! and 36 mpg should save about $1000 per year and im sure we can get a much lower APR on loan

We went from a 2001 legacy GT limited 5spd MT to the CVT in the 2010 OB. More so because the new 6spd in the outback was simply horrid. Zero complaints the CVT is the best thing subaru could have ever done for the 4cylinder engine. Great combo! Tows very well also.

To be replaced next year by a far superior ride. The Sport is nothing but a impreza wagon with disc rear brakes and two tone paint anyway. I wouldn't pay a premium price for a dated and old design when you can get the new far superior 5door for nearly the same price.
