In this case, the car flipped because it snagged on the chain link fence.
Remember the stop kills, not the speed.

Some of the worst thunderstorm lake weather I've ever experienced was up on Almanor. Was doing the big trans Almanor race many years ago spotted the ugly dark cloud moving in fast and managed to get lucky and could run for the ramp 16ft 300lb sailboat. Buddy beached his boat across the lake and hid under it till we found him a few hours later.
A really nice large catamaran was partially sunk and a guy rushing to get this 25ft catalina out of the lake at the ramp was hit by lightning blown into the water. He was hauled off in an ambulance. Can't recall how many boats were partially sunk and beached all over the lake but it was nearly all of them. A few years prior to that we spent the day across the lake water skiing only to discover the lake had 6ft rollers running down the length of it nearly flooded the boat trying to get back across to the ramp and car. Cool lake but not one to mess with when the weather moves in. |
