With many thanks to rsworden for providing a light in the tunnel, here are my tweaks for the person who likes the classic "smile" shape on an eq. It punches up the bass and the high end treble while getting rid of the factory default bass mid-low (annoying) thump:
Band 1: Freq=60, Q=.25, Gain= 3 Band 2: Freq=400, Q=2, Gain= -2 Band 3: Freq=2k, Q=2, Gain= -3 Band 4: Freq=16k, Q=.25, Gain= 3

Parametric equalizer - yet another reason I would never buy the factory nav/stereo if I were buying again. You shouldn't need to be a freakin' sound engineer to listen to music properly in your car, it's ridiculous!
