Head Unit? - Subaru Outback

in my legacy outback, how do i take the head unit out? im trying to put a aftermarket head unit in and i dont know how to take stock head unit out. any ideas? do yall need pics?

Crutchfield has a great how to. I don't know if you have to buy it from them to get it but I'd imagine someone has posted it somewhere.

You'll have to pull the center console so you can get at the screws that hold in the stereo surround. Takes a bit of patience. IIRC, all fasteners are #2 Phillips. That's assuming your '96 is the same as our old '98, and that my memory is correct....

You can order installation instructions from Crutchfield for IIRC $10, even if you didn't order the stereo from them.
