'09 outback w/ dual zone climate stereo swap out!

saw a couple posts on here saying it could not be done and someone who linked the jdm parts for how it is done. figured i'd show the end result of mine off-

day.

and night.

was not easy, but was way worth it and after that + dynamat my entire front doors my HK sound system sound 10x better.

laketown speed and sound (in salt lake city) helped me out in a huge way as well as Subaru radio and radio wiring harness information

cheers

Did you have to have the faceplate fabricated? I just want an after market HU and there are apparently no kits for the 2009 Outback with auto climate control.

The dash kit is JDM, and includes the separate A/C control panel. See this thread on the Legacy forums:

Excuse my dim-witted question but the JDM thread seems to refer to a kit for a legacy but the headline to your post mentions an 09 Outback. Am I to assume that the kit for the Legacy is also suitable for an 09 OB (with dual climate control)?

Same car, different fiddly bits. The radios are completely the same for each.

How did you get the silver faceplates with the two-knob HVAC controls. The only silver one I've found has the single knob HVAC controller.

Bump...good question, did you use your original HVAC control knobs?

This looks like the only option in silver:

Did you use a different one?

The parts can be painted to match. I left mine in the original dark grey, because it's a good match for other parts on the dash. Only other outback owners notice.

I'm not aware of the dual-zone kit being available in any other color.
