Interesting, I was just contacted through Facebook by an attorney that seems to think this may be a lemon law issue. He saw the post on SOA's FB page started by someone else that I commented on, and saw the links to this discussion that I posted and sent me a message on FB.

Because this has been ongoing for as long as it has and Subaru has sent me barking up the wrong tree several times and SUbaru still has not gotten this thing to work.

I am not ready to head down that road yet, but I have spent many hours of my time dealing with SOA, the dealer and XM on this and I am tired of being sent on a wild goose chase.

Has anyone else in CA or anywhere been contacted?

I just got another call from the dealer, the regional rep will be looking at my car this evening, with a little luck I will be up and running tonight. My fingers are crossed, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high...

I doubt the regional rep will be able to do anything unless he intercedes for you with XM. They are the ones who have to force their computer to re-code your radio ID for audio and data.

He won't be able to tell anything by looking at your car except that you are not getting traffic data.

Now he may have enough horsepower to convince XM to make the mod to your account, but he'll have to talk to somone who can actually change your account.

XM just doesn't recognize our vehicle as nav traffic capable because our dealers didn't activate them that way.

The dealer just went along thinking our free trial was just like the 2012 trial, 3 months of radio.

I'l be interested to hear how it goes for you. Good luck.

That is my feeling as well. Nobody needs to physically see my car to get this working, it just needs to be activated by XM using my radio ID number. I am guessing that only one free trial can be activated per radio ID, I think we are up against an issue where once a free trial is activated on a radio ID, that is it.

I am guessing this is why people that have subscribed have been able to get service credits, that is probably a lot easier to add to an existing account than adjusting a free trial period.

As I said, I am not getting my hopes up just yet...

I called SOA tonight. They told me that they'd have this working by the end of the week.... We'll see. I'd be thrilled if they wanted to extend my service out to a year!

DJZ->You're welcome to share my name with said lawyer. I'm the one who's posts you replied to on FB.

Are you in CA as well, if so I am surprised they did not contact you as well?

Based on the email, it appears to be an ambulance chaser, but who knows.

And as for what SOA has told you, I was told that 3 or 4 weeks ago and I am still sitting here with no nav traffic...

And it works!

Big thanks to Larry the regional factory rep with SOA. he sat in the car and called XM and after being put on hold several times for several minutes, my live traffic and XM are both working with a new 4 month trial that starts today.

I did not get his card, with all the time we spent on hold and the traffic I hit on the way there, I was almost late picking up my daughter.

The conversation with XM (we spoke with Mae and Liza at XM for whatever it is worth) went something like this.

XM told us that the radio had been activated for 3 months of audio.
The SOA rep explained that it should have been 4 months of radio and Nav.
XM asked if it was a new or used vehicle
SOA rep told them it was new and gave date of purchase
XM asked for year/make/model
SOA rep gave info and offered VIN, they did not ask for it
XM "refreshed" their screen and saw the 4 month trial for radio and traffic

At this point, it was not letting them complete the activation but the traffic alerts were showing on my radio, they put us on hold again for a few minutes and when they came back they told me the trial would start from today and run until March 13th for the radio and traffic.

All of this took about 25 minutes and I was sitting in the car with the SOA rep on speaker phone via his cell phone with XM.

The SOA rep had several pages of notes that were hand written and printed out from their system on my case and he apologized for how long this took to resolve and I was on my way.
