Hi all,
Can you route a GPS, or Phone charger wire to route out of the top section of the dashboard, to plug into the GPS or Phone (used as a GPS) on a Subaru Outback Sport 09? I would love to know if this can be done, or is easy job, because I am getting annoyed by the charging wire infront of the radio, ac, etc.. Thanks |

Yes, of course this can be done.
Is it easy? That depends. Have you ever installed a car stereo? Have you ever removed interior trim? Would you be comfortable doing these things on your OB? If so, you might find it very easy. If not, you might want to have a professional stereo shop do the work. Also think about exactly where you will mount the device, how you will use it, and how it will look when you are not using it. For example: I put an ipod/iphone adapter in my OB so I could have a single wire for both charging and audio. The ipod/iphone is usually stuck on the dash between the vents, but I ran the wire out of the bin underneath the radio. This allows for a long enough wire (~3 feet) that anyone in the front seats can use the device in their hand while it is still connected to power & audio. And the wire can be stowed in the bin when the car is parked on a city street. ![]() -Jeff p.s. I currently use Navigon on the iphone for GPS navigation, and LOVE it. It has shocked and surprised me several times with its ability to automatically find unexpected surface-street routes around freeway traffic jams. Lifetime subscription to live traffic data was just $20. |

A wire can put tucked along the left side of dash and trim. Open door, pull wire up and into crevice end of dash. Wire will still be on top of dash, but at least tucked in and out of view. Did this with an ultragauge wire. Don't put anything on top middle dash, air bag!
