Default 2011 red key light is blinking

i just notices that the red light that is shaped like a car with a key symbol in side that is blinking, i have all the doors locked and they are all shut and no key inside it...what could be making this blink? it blinks 3times then pauses then repeats this...i never noticed it before till now, i have the tire off and a strut gone because of the 1" lift i am having problems with....

is this normal is something else could be a miss....

LOL my mother just went through panic mode two weeks ago she has nearly 30,000 miles on her car and just noticed it ha ha. She thought there was something wrong with the car called the dealer etc. I told her to go sit in the car with her owners manual sure enough it was working as designed.
