Default turn off the driving lights?

Is there a way to turn off the driving lights? I like the idea and for the most part intend to leave them on, but would like the ability to temporarily shut them off.
Tonight pulling into parking for Fourth of July fireworks show I wished I could have turned off lights and only used parking lights, I can also see wanting to do this while looking at Christmas lights displays. I noted that when emergency brake is engaged the lights go off. Has anybody wired an additional switched circuit to the hand break indicator switch to turn off the headlights on a temporary basis?
Thoughts, or suggestions?

That one is a little more challenging. Take a look here: 2000-2004 Legacy/Outback Fog Light Mod

Those directions are for a 2000-2004, so yours may be different. I looked at doing it on mine and the wire colors did not seem to correspond to what others found. Not sure why.

There's also this page: Foglight DRL mod: Make your fogs work as DRLs - Subaru Legacy Forums Not sure what years it's for, though, or if the procedure would be identical for an Outback or not.

Basically, it depends on what you use power from to trigger the relay for the fogs.

What, four posts and no one has come out telling you that disabling DRLs will upset the earth's rotation?

My biggest beef with the DRLs is that it's easy as a new driver to continue into the dark with them on because they still provide light, and be driving with no tail lights.

In addition to that, (on my 04 at least) there isn't much difference in brightness between the DRLs and Low Beams. Plus with the sun roofs, enough light gets into the cabin even at night so you don't necessarily notice you can't see your instrument cluster.

I haven't managed to drive off without my lights on yet, but that may be because I'm the one whining even when nobody seems to realize that you're supposed to use your headlights in the rain. To think I flash my lights at them all and they don't seem to get it
