So here is an odd one for ya. My Outback is now behaving like a GM car :P. Today a buddy of mine and I swapped out my interior and put in the leather interior I picked up last weekend. And since he was here and I know diddly about wiring I asked him to fix the remote starter that the previous owner had put in when the car was new that no longer was working properly (after starting it would continue trying to start). Found a broken wire under the hood for sensing the tach, fixed it and it started working again. However... the car now locks the doors when you take it out of park, and then unlocks them when you shut the car off. I find this really annoying. Also, I didn't think these cars EVER did that. Anyone have any suggestions to fix it? I have no idea what brand the remote start is, except I know that it is NOT a DEI.

Alot of remote start/security systems will do this. My Code Alarm on my Accord does it. If you can find out the brand you should be able to get into the programming and change that feature. Some people find it annoying and some people really appreciate the feature.

I guess it's time for a fishing expedition! I would look under the drivers side of the dash for the main brain, get the model and brand and start digging on the net to find out how to turn that "feature" off.
