Now I just want to know how to get my IPhone to display the text messages on the screen. Anyone know the answer or what kinds of phones will do this?
Apparently IPhone's don't have the right format. |

There is a thread here somewhere that I followed to get it working but it is a setting in the iphone, something about banner type. You'll have to search but the answer is here somewhere. |

I couldn't find the thread either, but here are the steps on your iPhone5:
1. Settings - Bluetooth 2. click on CAR MULTIMEDIA 3. turn "Show Notifications" ON 4. also turn on "Sync Contacts" if you wish That's it, I believe. Worked for me. Edit: But the REPLY function doesn't work on the car. Another Subaru "feature" that is broken Edit2: I almost forgot, you also have to make sure messaging is turned on in the car. Just press the "phone" icon on the left side of the screen and turn the three messaging switches on

Not to hijack your thread but has anyone seen directions/turn list not fully displayed? This picture shows my turn list but I obviously can't see the names of the road or highways. It shouldn't look like this, right?!
![]() Also, will anyone with Sirius let me know if they see three lines of data on their display? I only see two but only when using Sirius - I see three in every other mode. Driving me crazy... |

I believe you should only see two lines in XM because they do not broadcast the album portion of the song tag. I have never seen album information displayed on any XM device before. Has anyone else?
You see three lines elsewhere because of the ID3 tags (which include album information). Regarding your display looking greyed out, that usually happens when you are driving. It doesn't want you focusing on the screen so it greys everything out. I will verify this after work today. Quote:

When I get a text message on my Samsung Galaxy SIII audio alert is heard and the text mesage is read to me (text-to-voice feature) by the NAV unit, after I give OK on NAV screen display....and that is by "default" - I haven't set it up that way....

I checked and yep, the directions are only fully displayed when the car is stopped. So if I'm driving on the highway and want to see where to exit in 20 miles I can't find out until the nav tells me so or I stop. Makes perfect sense.

update: while turning off trip log does improve the lag issue - I'm pretty sure there is a memory leak of sort when playing iphone/ipod music - the nav gets slower and slower as time goes on - I end up unplugging and replugging my iphone to clear that but it's very annoying. not as annoying as "traffic jam ahead" audio spam but close
I agree hiding the highway / street names while driving in the route directions is also completely stupid - so is the fact that even if I have a passenger they can't use the unit (the car knows there is a passenger (airbag sign etc...) so why not unlock the nav then... or just let me take my responsibility - isn't the annoying "I agree" each start enough...) |
