Thanks for the list, this thread is now "stuck" so it will remain at the top.

Thanks for those great links. Here's a couple o' more.

If you live in LA and need that Head Gasket job, this is the place:

Link no longer works.

He fixed my '99 Outback with the internal leaking HGs, overheating, bubbling, sticky-smelling, the whole sad story. He charged $1500 in Nov. '07 including sending out the heads for resurfacing. He made out a complete parts list and offered me any I wanted. It's still going strong in Jan '09. He made me love the car again, and he's a nice guy. I spent $2500 trying to fix it before Googling and realizing what the real problem was. If I lived closer to that ruddy chunk of Lankershim I'd go to him for everything.

There's also a place called Suby Specialists in Monrovia, CA that other Outback owners I have met rave about.

Here's a shop in the Seattle area and their head gasket page, just so you know you aren't going crazy. I actually called them from LA when I was at my wits end. They told me their price and what elements were essential (resurfacing) so I could compare and choose a shop in LA.

My dad says this community reminds him of Volkswagen owners in 1959 who would always toot and flash their headlights at each other. Outback owners are more like, "Dude, how are your head gaskets?"

Default Quick Cheap Fix

http://steelseal.com

I was hard up for money but still needed to keep this little beauty running so I researched the different radiator additives. I wasn't all that excited about trying one because I believe that they are all only a temporary fix and can cause problems with the rest of your cooling system. I took a big leap of faith and poured a bottle of Steel Seal in the radiator. That was 4 months ago. I have put close to 5000 miles on her and no problems. Also, these guys, gave me great service! UPS crushed the first bottle in shipping. I called and I had a replacement in 2 days. Good Luck!

Thumbs up Head gasket repair links

You only need to know one link, Head Gaskets Repair : Blown Head Gasket : Head Gasket Replacement : Cylinder Head Gasket : SteelSeal.com I have used this product and it absolutely works. I have repaired 3 cars so far. One '99 Forester, one Ford Aspire, and one '99 Saturn. All problems were solved completely. Go to the site, watch the video, and read how the stuff works. It will save you big bucks.

First and last links are dead - can we get those taken down to make this less confusing?
