My wife's '06 Outback needs new tires. I was in Pep Boys today and they had several to choose from that fit her car. They were also having a "buy 3, get one free" sale. Are their tires any good? I think they had a tire called a Definity. Does anybody know who build their tires?

Some pepboys tires are on my '94 when I bought it used; they seem to be ok for daily driving use. Tires are not something I would buy the cheapest out there, I mean in emergency situations etc it's nice to have a quality tire on there. 'All season' tires are a compromise in all areas to make a tire that works ok in the most conditions. If you live in a snowy area I'd go dedicated winter snow tires and then a separate summer tire.

Mconnell is in Oklahoma. Don't think he needs snow tires.
... ... His loss.

We got our last set of tires sent to our doorstep and took them to our local shop for installation. Prices and selection were great:

I would say no, and that is based on personal experience. I bought a set several years ago for an Impreza L sedan that I owned and they were terrible. I got about 35k miles out of them, but they became really noisy with age. When I replaced them, each tire had a different wear pattern after religious rotation and alignments twice a year. They were good in a pinch, but I probably won't go back to them for tires.
Look at www.tirerack.com www.tires.com www.vulcantires.com www.mavistire.com I've bought from all of these places and had local installation. Good prices and many of them have recommended local installers.
