Looking for year round tires.... want them to be good in snow and rain.. We also have hot summers. I seem to be leaning towards TRIPLE TREADS,
any feed back and other suggestions that stop me from pulling my hair out!!! would be GREAT! |

GYTT are a pretty popular tire, only downside it they are a lower speed rating than stock for an XT, some shops get bent out of shape over that.
Michelin Pilot Sport are more sporty and will be more performance oriented, but aren't going to do as well in winter conditions. If you don't deal with that much, I think they would be a good match for the OBXT.

If you have a Les Schwab around I would recommend the Toyo Tourevo LS. I am running them on my 06' and they have been great. The H-rated 225/55-17 even have an 80,000 mile warranty.
They have been very good tires for all conditions.

The General Altimax HPs I bought about a month ago have been doing well so far. About 1200 miles on them so far and driven in everything but snow at this point. As far as speed rating, they are available in both H and V rated versions.

8 because they are not winters. Panic stops are interesting. I would like to drive the GYTT'sback to back on the same vehicle to see if that small patch of "winter" tread is really that great. I've had the General Altimax HP's in two snow storms so far. One small one and one with a foot of fresh snow on side streets. Zero problems. I panic braked one time to see what happens and it slid a good 20 feet. Not confidence inspiring but even winters would have slid 10+ feet in that situation. The lesson here is: If you run all seasons in heavy snow, drive extra careful. I think good common sense will save your but more often than a set of winter tires with poor judgement.
