Default 2001 LL Bean Outback - needs tires now

Hi, I am in desperate need for new tires on my 2001 LL Bean Outback. Consumer Reports like the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred and Hankook Optimo H727. The Hankook has good snow handling rating and I want that tire. However, it does not have the H rating. I was told it is best to get the same size, rating, etc as the original tires. Can someone help me out? I want an all season tire that handles well especially in snow (the northeaster that hit us around Halloween blanketed us with over a foot of snow) and rain. I love to have low noise and a comfortable ride as well.

I just purchased the Michelin Destiny from Discount Tire last week. And so far I love these tires, it has transformed my ride. they are quiet, handle very well and make the ride so much smoother. That is my two cents. To be fair though I did have the craptastic Pontenza tires before these.

I think the H rating is to spec the stiffer sidewall, someone at subaru realized the extra weight of the beaner was going to play havoc with the accident-avoidance maneuver.

Post up your city and folks might be able to suggest tires for your area/climate.

Nov 2011 Consumer Reports has on page 59 All Season 1-5 listed: Michelin LTX M/S,
Michelin X Radial LT, Michelin Latitude Tour HP, Michelin Latitude Tour as their 5 top picks. Michelin Latitude Tour HP are rate "H" at msrp $171 dollars each. The Nokian WR G@ Sport Utility's are rated "H" and are number 7 on the list. The Nokian's are rated top notch by many Subaru Owners, interested in what other tires you have considered. I think for the record that many Subaru Owners definately like the Triple Treads as well.
I just bought a set of dedicated snow tires on stock 16 inch wheels and could not be happier. Went with the Consumer Reports #3 rated tire, the General Altimax Artic's-

Nokian WRG2
Michelin Primacy MXV4
Goodyear TripleTred

would be my suggestions.

Also: more rust than I care to think about.

Thanks everyone for your input. I only have the Consumer Reports online. Don't know if online has the same information as the hardcopy one. When I first looked, I just looked at the tire rating. I just realized Consumer Report does breakdown the tire ratings by performance. Though Michelin Destiny looks good, it is not H rated. Under the H rated, Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Nokian WRG2 got the nod. Several of you have recommended the same. So, I am going to price these and see where I can get a good deal for them. Will report back.
