Question Post Shaker, Continental Alternative?

Hi all,

I had a shaker that SOA bought back, and was so impressed with their Customer Service that I ordered '12 OB 3.6R LTD to replace the '11 (exact same car).

While the continentals were not responsible for the shake, I found that they magnified problems, at an unpredictable frequency that had to have been due to temp/tire pressure -- my winter tires didn't seem to magnify the suspension problem.

Now that my '12 is on order, I'd like your advice. The dealer is offering 50 bucks apiece or $200 for the continentals. Do I take it, and if so, which tire should I get if I value handling and braking first, tire longevity and "comfort" to a lesser extent, given that I already have winter tires.

I'd also like to hear from you if you think my so-called "theory" about the OEM Contis is just folderol!

Cheers,

Bilz

I have a non shaker and 25K on my original Continentals just had them checked for balance two needed a fair amount of weight no shake prior to rotation - shake after rotation - hence the balance tires the rebalance fixed the shake due to poorly balanced tires moved to the front on the rears it was fine.

Now the good part one tire has a slight hop in it meaning it was either made that way or has developed it over the miles. Every tire maker I've had tires from has had various flaws shoot the Michelin tires have by far been the worst for me over the years - two bad tires on my 4runner and three tires on my VW just recently. The money you pay for that brand does not show in the quality one bit.

My current set of tires will be done in probably another 10K. I'm looking at these
BFGoodrich Advantage T/A (Grand Touring All-Season)
Camero guys get them standard on their cars and no doubt beat the living **** out of them. Unlike the subaru forums there are many Camero guys who have been fairly impressed with the tire.
