Default Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT

I'm looking for a dedicated snow tire and saw these at Tire Rack in the size I need for my 2008 OBXT. Anybody giving them a try? Thanks.

Those just came out, did they not?

They look decent for a snow tire, maybe a little performance oriented, but that would likely be fine for an XT.

Also: more rust than I care to think about.

Yes, I think they new. Not too bad of a price either for that size.

The RWD police cruisers up here run those tires.

That's nice to know. The reason I'm looking at them is because my wife and I are planning on moving up there to the Portland area after the first of the year. I've got Goodyear TripleTreds now, but thought I might need to go with full snows.

Those tires should do great, but in case you don't know already, the real hazard in Portrland is twofold:

1: Ice and black ice, especially in the Columbia Gorge, where the cooold interior air howls downhill and meets the moisture from the Pacific Ocean. Snow isn't a real problem in the city.

2: Paralytic drivers with All Season tires on the ice.

Once out of the city and at higher elevations you will get lots more snow.

Why are you moving to Portland? I visit there many times, since my sister lives there, but it sure is a weird place, with weird people. Strange politics, strange gas stations, more strip joints per capita than any other US city, bicycles EVERYWHERE. If you aren't an eco-nut, you won't make many friends. Any Portlanders reading this? No offense intended, weirdo... Portland and much of the Wet Side is unique and different - much to the frustration of the folks living in rural Central and Eastern Oregun....

When I was a teenager, my big sister was cool. She had one of the first RX7s and then she bought a '68 F100 pickup and rebuilt the engine by herself, and installed a floor shifter and side pipes! Then she moved to Oregun and became an eco-nut. She proudly paid $4000 over sticker for her first Prius and hasn't looked back. I still love her, but we are living in two separate universes

Be careful in Portland!

Thanks, but we are moving to Portland, Maine, not Oregon. Never been to Oregon, so I can't comment on your observations.

That does look like some fun bumper cars in Portland OR though.
Can't imagine what the first car was doing, maybe he figured screw it I already hit something might as well have some fun and smash a whole bunch of other cars.
