They make all the difference in slushy snow!
Just posting a comment.. but if you live anywhere where there is snow or ice, that you can't avoid, Get studded snows! This is the second winter I've had them on my silverado 2500, but I got them because it was winter, I needed tires, and a friend had these for sale dirt cheap off of his wife's suburban because they were moving to FL... So this year we bit the bullet and bought a set of 225 55 17 studded winterforce snows for the OBW... Drove to the tire shop in 2-3" slop, took them an hour to mount and balance, while I was there I had them rebuild the TPS sensors, and clean up the beads (front two had minor bead leaks, might have been at the stems) Then I drove her home in the same 2-3" sloppy snow and she did VERY well. I was going 20-30 mph to town, limited by steering and braking. Going home it would easily go 45-55mph with the same stopping distance (no I didn't push it, I didn't go over 40 other than for a few seconds to see how she handled) The tires that came off were new this summer when we bought the car, They are Toyo Extensa's which are definitely summer only tires... Just had to post that so far I am thrilled with the tires The H6 in the snow, going up a steep snowy hill, at 20, you punch it and it goes literally like a snow mobile.. Spits some snow out the back and takes off! Perma Grin! Jonathan |
