Guys keep in mind that rubbing on flat ground is going to be major rubbing on less than flat ground ie off road action as corners of the car see more suspension travel due to uneven surfaces etc. Bigger is not always better assuming a good tire can be found in the standards size that fits the car. The ralley guys run 15inch wheels in many cases due to clearance and the simple fact that they can get away with a smaller cheaper tire granted they are running some serious rubber like nothing you would get for your every day driving machine.

Anyone have any experience with the Pirelli Scorpion ATR? When my cheap BFGoodrich Premier Touring tires (which BTW, are average) die on me (which is a very long time from now), I intend to replace them with these.
Now, I do want off-road capability, but I also want great pavement handling. Basically, I want a tire that will aid fun and spirited driving on pavement, and most especially, off-road. Will the Pirelli Scorpion ATRs do the trick? picture: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr.../pirrh8.xl.jpg Now the thing is, these seem to be expensive. Are there any cheaper tires that will get me what I'm looking for? |
