Are you saying that it goes into reverse and nothing happens?

Check the linakge first, but i bet of you drained the tranny oil there would be metal parts in it.

It would be far cheaper to get a used manual transmission

Hey Nipper, I was wondering if you could shed some light on my problem new project?
I picked up a 99 forester, everything works except reverse... It is an MT, I have worked on other brands of MT, but not subaru... I was just wondering if you had any ideas?? Also is the dealer the best place to get parts for rebuilding an MT?
