Anyone notice a new five-star member here called "Advertisement"? It's a posting of adverts that attaches after the last post of every thread I read today, but it doesn't show up in the Forum Index.
Is this something new, or a hack? |

I deleted the google ads code segment from the thread display template. I'm waiting to hear from the board ownership about how that got there. I don't know, but it might be a new "undocumented feature" of the board.

What the heck. This thing was gone, and now I just started seeing it again. Is this planned forum functionality? I mean it already has google ads in many spots, such as the header and footer of every page and when you search.
Intermingling them with the posts, if it is going to be done, IMHO should be done only for non-registered users (that is how a number of forums do it). Otherwise it is way too intrusive. |

This has the look of paid advertising to me. I guess I'll stay away for a few days as the only means of fighting it.
This is one of the best forums out there but I cannot ignore this. No one will miss me, I cannot help as well as others, but a number of you are more critical the operation around here. I'll check back later, Thanks for all your help Mike P.S. After posting, the advert is still below mine.

AdBlock to the rescue--available for all major browsers.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 http://burgersoftware.com/en/safariadblock http://adblockie.codeplex.com/ I can't vouch for the IE version, but I use the Firefox and Safari versions to great effect.

All I get is the "Advertisement" post but it doesn't display anything. If it's not displaying the ad, it's easy enough to ignore. |
