Kenwood DNX9140 in 2010 OB

I had my factory radio and media hub replaced by a Kenwood DNX9140, with Alpine PDX-5 amp and backup camera. The bezel had to be custom fabricated since there is no off-the-shelf kits available for the new OB as of yet. I also had a Clifford alarm installed.

I uploaded the pictures to my gallery - several similar pictures in a row show the different angles. The backup camera is shown, as well as the leftover pieces. The Kenwood was connected to the ports from the media hub, in the center console, and the ipod adapter was run there also.

The "push to talk" voice control button was mounted in the little tray in the center console, so it is easy to reach but inset in case something is set on the console. The alarm led was mounted next to it. There is also a microphone clipped to the headliner behind the rear view mirror, for the voice control and handsfree bluetooth phone.

The Alpine barely fit under the driver's seat - this is a 5 channel amp, rated at 4x75w rms and 1x300w rms, but the included birth sheet showed that it was measured at over 100w and 400w. I reused the subwoofer box from my Forester. The sound is much improved over the stock system, which distorted like crazy when cranked up.

The voice control is the weakest part, only about half the time does it recognize what I say.

I saw the bezel before it was installed, it appeared from the back that they had glued together some pieces of plastic and somehow blended them. I paid an extra $300 just for the labor for them to make that piece.

Pricey, but there is a lot of labor there, nicely done.
