I think we all have them...those bands or songs you want no one to find on your ipod
I recall someone once saying "Never judge a man by what comes on his ipod shuffle"
With that in mind, post up somethign in your collection youd rather not be caught dead with.
For me, its Nickelback...I have all their "hit" songs but never play them around others. I cannot think of a more universally reviled "rock" band

Creed.
Just got their greatest hits disc.
I'm not really ashamed, but they dissed/failed a lot of their fans back when they were 'it'

I have to admit that I like Jason Mraz and Maroon 5. I have to be in the mood though. I used to be a fan of Creed, but Scott Stapp is a real douchebag. He married a high school friend of mines sister, and I have not heard the greatest things.
A band that I am really digging recently is Kasabian, their self-titled album is great, but I am not ashamed to admit that. |

I'm ashamed to admit it but I really, really like ABBA. I have every single one of their discs put out here in the USA.
On the harder side of rock I also really like Marilin Manson. Once you get past his freaky shock value he puts out a rockin' song. |

Oh dear...
I like all sorts of music. However, I am rather partial to Aqua's "Barbie Girl" song.
Another favourite has to be the internet hit "The Llama Song" (Google it, it's on Albinoblacksheep.com - I can't link to that site from work). I have a couple of albums of really cheesy/funny type songs like this I regularly listen to.
On the MP3 player (Creative Zen = much better than iPod) I'm currently listening to Disturbed's 10,000 fists and Indestructable albums. :18: |

I am very proud of my Frank Zappa collection and I don't care who gets embarrassed by it.
That goes for my Tom Waite collection as well. |

Apparently it is uncool to be a fan of Linkin Park, but I have all the CDs and Underground stuff as well as Chester Bennington's stuff from before LP and Mike Shinoda's spin-off band Fort Minor. They have a unique sound that clicked with me the first time I heard them. Which happened to be as the background music for the 2001 WRC season video compilation.
Sorting iTunes by play count, the top few are Bowling for Soup, Gary Jules, Fort Minor, Andre Bocelli, and Autopilot Off, The Cranberries, and Johnny Cash. :)
I like classical, country, old school rap, opera, punk, techno, ska, big band, reggae, etc. About all I don't care for is classic rock (heard them way too many times) and current rap. I was at a punk bar recently with all the tattooed pierced kids there. My 20 year old daughter thinks I'm nuts. :)
But at 55 I'm long past caring if what I do or what I'm listening to impresses anyone. I'm riding around on a powder blue Vespa with a leopard seat cover, fer crying out loud. :D |

T.I.
Linkin Park (Fort Minor was actually really good)
Nickleback (terrible lyrics, but I always imagine a guy in a lifted dodge pick up blasting to it and that makes me grin)
Papa Roach
Kid Rock (although just one song, I can't stand his latest hit that is always on the radio)
Fiona Apple
Fall Out Boy
Evanescence
I like everything really. Even the worse songs I usually have a few good memories playing to. And thats enough for me.
Good thread idea by the way! With everyone hiding behind their keyboards I figure most people will be pretty honest with it. |

| I was actually admitting to liking some Nickelback earlier today. I blame my friend. He was the one that made me do it. |

LINKIN PARK IS THE BEST!! and i dont care what anyone says bout them. I also have all of there albums including one before the band name was Linkin Park, back when they had the name of hybrid theory. Before they found that the name was already taken.
One of the worst bands (IMO) that ill admit listening to
1. Backstreet Boys
2. old Brittany Spears
There not on my ipod, but i still listen to them from time to time. |

i was going to say abba too, i don't have any of their stuff anymore [ used to have it on vinyl from my moms collection] but if i hear it somewhere, i still like it. hey i was born in '67 and it is some catchy stuff.
personally i don't much care what people think either, too old for that. if i liked rap i'd be embarrassed but i don't. don't like much of the newer stuff coming out, my kid has me listen to all the new stuff and some of it's ok, but, like my grandfather used to say about led zeppelin, black sabbath and pink floyd " it all sounds the same to me"
for stuff most people don't listen to, i'd say tori amos [have most of her stuff], my wife likes a lot of 70's bands so i listen and like some of that, carole king, elton john , disco funk type stuff. i find myself singing the lyrics to some of those songs and they are about the corniest thing you could come up with.
about the only things i won't listen to are rap and country [though i do like some dwight yokum songs]
on the walkman right now:
tool [all]
tori amos [most]
remy zero [villa elaine]
puscifer [v is for vagina] and some others i downloaded
corrosion of conformity
stp [purple and core]
porcupine tree
van morrison
metallica [black and just put the new one on there]
perfect circle
couple compilation things i made up and my kid made for me too. |
