Micro cars fair poorly against mid size sedans? - Click HERE for Original Thread
'05 Outback2.5i
Who’d have though it, huh? Well, at least now there is scientific record, the IIHS offset crashed micro cars with mid size sedans, any bets on the outcome? I'm getting kind of tired of hearing people talk about how safe the micro cars are, just because they did okay in the IIHS offset crash test. In the real world no one runs into a deformable barrier, and if you are driving a micro car, the vehicle you tangle with is likely to be larger than you.

I saw that, and thought to myself, "Well yeah, those small cars really have no crush zone."

And then thought, "Well, duh, what would happen if I went head on into a dumptruck. In the end, physics wins."

Those videos do make good newsclips, though. Plenty of wrinkled sheetmetal.
ETC
i'm actually surprised that little thing did that much damage to that truck.

until everyone drives those little things ... there's going to be a tradeoff for saving gas and getting into that tiny little parking space, one of those tradeoffs may be your life.

i'd rather hit pretty much anything in my subaru than in a "smart car" ... actually i'd rather hit it in my full size truck ... actually i'd rather not hit it at all ;]
